I hold a PhD in Horribleness!

Act II

Wow. That was much darker, gloomier, and less slapstick than I was expecting. It's very strange that this is setting up such a moral dilemma...except it's Joss, so it's really not strange at all.

Anyway, I'm not sure any of the songs from this part were as catchy as the "Freeze Ray" song from Act I. Also, I don't feel like there were any laugh-out-loud lines the way there were in Act I.* I'm definitely sucked into the story though. Will Dr. Horrible kill Captain Hammer? Or will he turn away from his evil ways and win Penny's heart?

Also, I'm feeling the need for some more Joss penned music, so I think I'm going to watch "Once More With Feeling" before I go to bed.

*Upon second viewing I've decided that it did have a number of quite funny lines, they were just hidden amongst the darker context. Possibly, overall, it's even better than Act I. My favorite line of Act II so far might be: "I say successful in that I achieved my objective. It was less successful in that I inadvertently introduced my arch nemesis to the girl of my dreams and now he's taking her out on dates. They are probably going to French kiss or something." The hilarity of that might have been in the delivery, now that I think about it. Other favorites are "How are things with cheesy-on-the-outside?" and particularly "The hammer is my penis." Okay, damn, this one had a lot of great lines.

I also feel compelled to mention that the scene with Billy and Penny singing in split screen is my favorite bit of singing so far.
