Quadrangle is the new Triangle

It amazes me that it takes me so long to realize that I'm watching the same thing happen on every TV show I watch. So BSG had the Dee/Lee/Kara/Sam love quadrangle and VM has the Parker/Logan/Veronica/Piz quadrangle and I've finally come around to the fact that Lost has the Juliet/Jack/Kate/Sawyer quadrangle. Part of me longs for the good old days of the triangle. Or even the days before that of the "sexual tension-having" couple. I'm not sure when it first happened that people started using the quadrangle instead of the triangle, but clearly word got around that it was the way to go, because it's everywhere. I can't wait til the quadrangle gets tired and writers start introducing the love pentagons. I mean, with TV show casts getting as large as they are these days, it doesn't seem unreasonable. We're drifting closer and closer to daytime soaps at every turn.
