Editorial on Made in China/Consumerism

This is an editorial in the Boston Globe by Jim Shannon, President of the NFPA. NFPA is generally a somewhat left leaning organization, if only because it lobbies for ever increasing numbers of fire safety regulations. This editorial, however, is quite left leaning and accusatory and essentially calls for a massive shift in popular consumer culture. It does certainly make me wonder about how I can reconcile my largely libertarian beliefs with this obvious need for greater regulations to ensure my own safety. This, of course, only increases my desire to move to Germany.
