Dear Sister
I had a great SNL digital short posted here but something happened to it and I can't get it back. Anyway, if you're interested, go to YouTube and search "Dear Sister SNL" to find it. It's hilarious. To me. Because I'm crazy.

Brady Quinn is adorable. Plus he was the only source of drama in the first round. I will root for the Browns this year.
The rest of the draft didn't really hold my attention. Except Jamarcus Russell's watch. I like shiny things.
Oh yeah, and the homoeroticism inherent in a bunch of men sitting around admiring the physical prowess of younger guys.

I really wasn't looking forward to this episode. It always bothers me when I have to think about Sun and Jin having anything other than a perfect happy life. They really are the only people on the island who have any helpful skills, contribute to the community, or ask any reasonable questions about what's going on. Also, they're so gorgeous together.
Man, if it weren't for this stupid pregnant women on the island die issue, then it would seem that crashing on the island was the greatest thing to possibly happen to Sun and Jin's marriage.
Mikhail is definitely a Cylon.
And why does helicopter lady speak so many languages and alternate randomly between them?
Okay, JJ, Damon and Carlton have sworn up and down that these people aren't dead. All I can figure is that the Others planted a crashed plane to be found so that people would stop looking.

Yep, what did I tell you? Apparently the last two filmed episodes will air at some point. I doubt that's going to give me the details I want about what's really going on in the show. Hopefully Tim Minear is a nice enough guy that he'll tell somebody and it'll be posted somewhere.

Hmm, looks like Drive won't be on for too much longer. Those are not good numbers. Obviously Fox didn't really want to promote the show too much, otherwise they would have put the premiere and the first few episodes after Idol, the same way they've made previous shows. After a few episodes it probably would have had enough of a following to move it to Monday. Hasn't anyone learned yet that ads are nothing. It's all about location. It probably would have done a little better if it had premiered after 24. I really think American Idol was the answer though. If it couldn't pick up an audience after a few airings after Idol, they could have conclusively determined that it didn't have a chance and cut it before too many people were hooked. As it is now, they'll probably drag it out just long enough for the few people watching it to be really upset and disappointed when they don't get to find out what's going on.
I hoped this rant would be mildly cathartic. It wasn't.

Okay, first of all, if I were given the clue "Surrender, America" there is no way that I ever, ever would have known that that meant Appomattox, VA. I didn't even know that Appomattox was where Lee surrendered until they told me in the show. I'm just saying that hopefully the teams that were not eliminated and were not going to the special bank robbery stop had as much luck coming up with the answer as those teams that didn't really need it.
I think it was pretty clear that it was going to be Susan to die and not Sean considering J.D. Pardo is in the credits and Michael Hyatt isn't. I'm going out on a limb here and guessing that at some point John will either die or stop at a hospital and send Violet on to continue the race, potentially making Violet and Leigh a team.
Also, Winston appears to be a Sawyer (Lost) type criminal. As in the type of criminal who has no stealth or street smarts whatsoever and can only have survived up to this point on pure luck. Actually, I guess there's no indication that Winston was ever supposed to be a good criminal considering he was in prison when the show started. Not like Sawyer who was supposed to be some amazing con artist who was only caught because his jilted pregnant girlfriend turned him in. Anyway, Winston's lucky his brother has some intelligence because he'd be getting no where on his own.
My guess is that Wendy and Ivy are going to conveniently pass through the check point in VA while Wendy's on her way back to Ohio, even though it wouldn't really be on the way. Maybe she'll give Ivy back to Leigh (but what car would they drive) and she'd take Violet. Or maybe not.
Anyway, I'm glad this episode didn't have anything to do with "Them" and their motives and manipulations. The "Them" aspect is annoyingly reminiscent of Lost's "Others." Well, the whole show is pretty Lost-y. Lost meets The Amazing Race, I guess. Probably why I'm enjoying it.

Okay, really not sure how I feel about this show so far. Mainly I feel like winning would be really dependent on how good a car one is driving. I feel strongly about the old people on the motorcycle to win it. As far as my favorite team, I think I like the estranged brothers. I really don't like the New Orleans women (mainly Taryn Manning) or the soldier and his girlfriend. I'm also really bothered by the possibility that Tully is going to fall in love with his blonde girl partner lady. I don't want him to be unfaithful to Amy Acker.
Most importantly, however, I was happy to see how Whedon-rrific the first episode was. Mal looking for Fred and being interrogated by Jubal Early. Very cool.
And as weird as I find Melanie Lynskey to be so far, I have to admit that I'm curious about her storyline and what the deal is with her husband and her baby. And I like the dad and daughter team. Also, I'm happy to see Mal kicking ass (and it's going to take a long time for me to stop calling him Mal).
More than anything else though, I question the long term sustainability of this show. And the choice of using covers of driving related songs.

So, this is probably the first year ever that I'm anxious about and desparately awaiting the network upfronts. Even when I was working in the industry I didn't care this much about them. Damn Veronica Mars, making me care about stupid industry crap like the upfronts. And it's one of those feelings of hope and dread. Have I never liked a show enough to care this much about it's fate? I'm also a tiny bit concerned about the fate of How I Met Your Mother. And they're still 3 1/2 weeks away. I've been a little insane today. I think the anxiety is starting to get to me.

I just got a Google ad telling me that I could own a copy of the mural from the hatch. This reminded me of that blacklight map that Locke found in the hatch. What was up with that? Was it relevant in any way? Is it ever coming back? And wasn't that guy in the hatch with Desmond the person who painted it? Wasn't he an Other? And if he was an Other then why was he going to leave on that sailboat? This goes back to what I was saying about Desmond and his story seeming way more important that most of the other despite how late he came into the show.

So, first of all, I like that Desmond calls people brother because he was a monk for all of a week. Second, I like that if you put Desmond together with Locke and Sayid, they have held every profession known to man. Third, I love Scottish people.
Honestly, did Sawyer really have to talk to Jack to figure out that Kate slept with him because she was upset about Jack and Juliet being together? Because, to me, her "shut up" was obviously code for "don't talk while we have sex so that I can pretend you're Jack." Just because Sawyer is the voice of the audience doesn't mean he has to be stupid. Also, is anyone on the island using birth control? You'd think at least Kate would be since, after last week, she knows all the pregnant women die.
I think there needs to be a website listing all of the English words that Jin knows.
And doesn't it seem like, with all the time flashing about and people in that monk's family telling him what his path is, that Desmond is really important for some reason and should be the main character? It's hard to think that all of this knowing the future stuff is really just an afterthought from the writers, but it's also hard to think it's not when it didn't start until 2 1/2 seasons in.
And finally, the Flash could definitely win in a footrace, but if it were a race where the Flash is running and Superman is flying then it'd probably be a tie.

So, the Buffy musical episode sing-a-long is probably the dorkiest thing I've ever been to (since Comic-con). It was also ridiculously fun (like Comic-con), so I'm refusing to let myself be ashamed of my nerdy obsessions. Being in a theater full of people who are all singing at the top of their lungs and deriving as much enjoyment from watching the episode as you are is kind of theraputic. As is being able to repeatedly yell "Shut up Dawn!" It makes me think I'd like to watch more episodes with a large group.

I can hardly even go to boxofficemojo.com anymore because every time I do I want to wring Scott Holleran's neck with my bare hands. I'm starting to think he's in the wrong profession. Why review movies if you don't like ANY movies?

I just checked the Save Our Show poll results at the E!Online site. Veronica Mars had 1.9 million votes, a close second behind Gilmore Girls 2.2 million, and a million more than the third place show. When I read the comments, a number of them were positive endorsements for VM, but one looked like this:
What a joke you and this contest are. You must be a moron to not acknowledge that Veronica fans stuffed the box using tricks and programming. Hopefully the TV execs will see you for the crock of bull that you are!
And several others were similar. These things sounded a lot like what some people say about Firefly/Serenity fans. Admittedly Browncoats can be over the top and obnoxious sometimes, but I still don't understand the hatred directed towards some fandoms. So we like a show that you don't like? I have no doubt that you like a show that we don't like. If you don't like it when large groups of fans get together to support their show, then don't get together in a large group to support your show and contribute to fandom. We don't mind.
Now if it's a member of a rival fandom then my previous comments don't apply. Members of my fandoms are probably doing the same thing to yours that you're doing to mine, so that's fair. I'm just talking about the people that seem to have something against active fan communities in general.

Oooh, Kate's mad, she called Sawyer James!
Why does Juliet's search for the serum at the caves take place during the day when it was clearly night when she left the beach?
Wow, Ben and Juliet spent all of their time trekking around the island.
So, can Ben control the world with his mind or something?
Is Ben still pulling that "if you do this I'll let you go home" stuff with Juliet, or has she really turned evil? or is it good?
The beginning of the end? What does that mean? Is this the last season?
